Surya Ghat

Suryaghat is one of the cremation and ritual ghats along the Bagmati River. Its name comes from “Surya”, meaning Sun in Sanskrit, symbolizing light, life, and spiritual energy. The ghat is associated with sun-related rituals and cremation ceremonies, linking the cycle of life, death, and rebirth to solar symbolism. It is considered a sacred site where the sun’s movement and energy are invoked for purification, liberation of the soul, and auspicious rites.

Suryaghat is not just a cremation site but a spiritual observatory, where the power of the sun, the river, and Hindu rituals converge to guide the soul toward liberation.
